Which version are you using? The !mate one isn't asking me to reboot or update often. -

The !Mint site has been getting DDOS attacks, and web site breaches (.iso files and their checksum files replaced with malicious code) Could be they're still down, but I'm looking to upgrade to a different distro. Perhaps !Ubuntu !Mate https://ubuntu-mate.org/ -

I'm a !GNU+Linux user too. Currently using !Linux !Mint !Debian Edition, but thinking of replacing it with Debian Testing with the !Mate desktop. BTW, @sorch, you need to subscribe to !Fedgroups before you refer to them in messages. F'rinstance, check http://legadolibre.com.ar/group/308/id and click on the "Subscribe" button. And, @mmn, shouldn't that be a "Join" button for UI consistency? -

I found a servicible answer in the !mate forum. In the directory /usr/share/mate-panel/layouts I found Default, LinuxMint, and OpenSuse. The opensuse layout is closest to what I want, having one panel, and all the menus down the left side. I made it the default with:
mate-panel --layout opensuse --reset
I think I'll replace workspace switcher and window list with weather report and force-quit. I don't know what sticky notes is or how well it works with orca screen reader. -

If one installs Debian #Gnu #Linux using the Jessie RC2, and has #A11y activated for this process, The installed system will be fully accessible, without further user intervention. I chose the !mate desktop for this project. On first boot, I had a talking lightdm session and desktop, including the loaded modules for making QT4 apps accessible. Unlike in !ubuntu !mate The login greeter does not crash when screen reader is enabled. Just thought you'd like to know.
Current mood: satisfied. -
