Depends on what you mean by RTFM culture. RTFM (said politely) if there's one that is good and simple to understand for new comers isn't a bad solution.
A bad solution would be too make a "it just works" software it's bad because if people don't have a minimum of knowledge in computing on long term it will gradually transform the free/libre software movement into a MS clone.
