Just watched the first episode of the Mandalorian. My god that was horrible. It felt like under budget acting/directing with all the money wasted on special effects.

@Aerdan hey I just did an image search and I see what you mean. That thing looks like it came right out of #Automan! I'm starting to suspect #ElonMusk watched the same cheesy #SciFi #TV shows I did as a kid. I wonder if there will be a #Tesla Cyberbike that looks like the #Streethawk bike? Although I guess the #Tron #lightcycle is the obvious design inspiration for that ;)
https://cosmic.voyage just celebrated it's first year in operation. In 365 days we had 283 user-submitted logs to the QEC Relay 001. Amazing job everyone!
I'm putting together the year one anthology now and I'm just giddy. I'm rereading everything as I go and there's some truly great stuff here.
If you haven't been reading now is a great chance to jump in.
For todays #FollowFriday I'm going to do something a bit different. We have a lot of new users, one of the biggest surges we have seen in a while. As such a lot of new users are looking for high quality, long-standing, accounts to follow. Similarly many of the new users need some help getting attention and making new friends.
As such I am going to do this #FF in a few parts. One for old users I have mentioned in previous posts, as well as some of the new users who have been making quality posts and been active for at least a week now. Hopefully this will be more helpful.
Also a section for some bots might be useful.
I will use a persons profile description here as I dont want to misrepresent anyone.

The #SFFBookClub poll is up! I wasn't planning to do a read in December, so we can call this the November/December poll.
I'll close the poll on Nov 10th.
Vote for as many as interest you. High vote-getters will return. Also we have an anthology on here, which is new for us. It's been suggested the faster readers could pick, say, a story a week, and others jump in that week if interested.
It's November and for some reason that means it's writing time! Do you have a story in you? Do you like sci-fi? Do you like hanging out in the terminal, or would you like to learn to use it?
https://cosmic.voyage is a semi-collaborative universe of stories from humanity's stellar diaspora. You can join. It's free, low pressure, and fun!
Come write with us.
So I'm watching Star Trek Discovery. Apparently they still use SQL in the 24th century...
As an old School TNG era Star Trek fan this is a complete disgrace to the franchise. Its sloppy and has no depth to the story.

"Airing at 7:30pm on Friday nights this serial was based on the 1974 novel of the same name, by Ursula K. Le Guin. Subtitled “An Ambiguous Utopia” it tells the story of the occupants of twin planets, Urras and Annares. A sprawling epic of its era..."
So, I consider myself a writer. But for years, I've struggled with telling plot-driven fictions. I think being a dungeon master got in the way: I got too used to letting dice rolls and player commentary decide the fate of the story.
But I think I've just figured out the plot for a science-fiction story. Read more at

I chose the GNK droid from star wars, aka the little fella who just meanders around and goes, "Gonk!". I always thought they were very cute and funny.

Make no mistake. I'm proud to have written WITHOUT BLOODSHED and equally proud to have published it back in 2013, but it's rough and there's a lot I would have done differently if I were writing it today.
If you want to see what I mean, please read and bookmark this post. It's a WIP, but there's already a fair amount of stuff there.
If you're thinking of writing your first novel, please learn from my mistakes.

Hurray! I finally have read "Andromeda" (by I. Efremov, 1957). It was not easy because of unreadable descriptions and wooden characters which are the same as in "Atlas Shrugged": beautiful, genious and strong. The sci-fi component is fascinating but only in the first part.
P.S. I still love soviet sci-fi.
Hm, ich überlege, einen eigenen #Podcast für #Leser*innen zu starten. Einfach so. Was meint Ihr?
